INDIAN SUPERHIT LOVE STORY.  MEGAHIT MOVIE "MOGHUL -E- AZAM" STORY & CHARACTERS.

The film "Mogul-i-Azam" tells a popular Indian story previously filmed under the titles "The Love of a Mughal Prince" (1928) and Anarkali (1953). It is based on an episode from the life of the Mughal prince Salim, who later became Emperor Jahangir. In the film, the great conqueror Akbar (played by Prithviraj Kapoor) and his Rajput wife Mariam-uz-Zamani (played by Durga Hote) have a son - a weak and indulgent Salim - played by Dilip Kumar.

Salim falls in love with the court dancer Anarkali (Madhubala). He wants to marry her, but his father objects and puts Anarkali in prison. Despite being detained, Anarkali refuses to accept Salim. Salim revolts against his father are defeated in battle and are sentenced to death. Anarkali pleads with him to save his life in exchange for his life and is ordered to be hanged alive on the walls.

However, it turns out that Akbar supported Anarkali's mother by informing him about the birth of her son. Anarkali's mother takes advantage of this and asks to save her daughter's life. The Emperor surrenders and organizes Anarkali's secret escape into exile. Unfortunately, it is still claimed that Anarkali was killed and Salim is heartbroken.

Most of Salim and Anarkali's stories end with the latter's death, although the film version is slightly more optimistic. However, Salim still has to believe that Anarkali is dead and the lovers are separated for life.
