Reflections on the education of the poor teacher Socrates and the rich disciple Plato: - Plato and Socrates' stories and thoughts in Hindi
It is a matter of thousand and a half years ago, three states were born in the famous city of Greece, Athens, which, on the basis of their fundamental views and deep tendencies, not only affect the society, but also the received ages, remain fully influenced and visible. Even today there are very few humans able to measure, know or understand the depth of his description. Not only Greece, but these three famous scholars of the world were – Mahatma Socrates (469 AD – 399 AD), Plato (427 AD – 348 AD) and Aristotle (384 AD – 322 AD) There was a deep relationship between.. Plato was the disciple of Mahatma Socrates and Aristotle was the disciple of Plato. We want to think about Plato's philosophy of education.
Seventy-year-old elder, great thinker of the world, great thinker of the world, when Socrates, in order to pave the way for truth and knowledge to his wrapped age, accepted the harsh order of the court in an undisturbed and impassioned gesture, kissed the cup of poison and hugged it. Greeted the death below, at the same time celibate for life, of strong athletic body, the best soldier of Athens, the chief sportsman, a principled scholar of extraordinary intelligence who had won brilliant victories in many wrestling-competitions, The one who was famous there (in Athens) by the name of Plato because of his strong shoulders and who has the distinction of being the foremost disciple of Socrates, was only a young man of 28 years.
Due to the death of his teacher Socrates, the disciple Plato suffered a lot. Plato was the most favorite disciple of Socrates. The nine or ten years of contact with Socrates had many major influences on his life. Although there was a big disparity between these two in many aspects. Socrates was ugly and poor, Plato was handsome and rich. Socrates was a member of a simple stone-sculptor family. But in the case of Athens, the first contributors to the system were Codorus and Solon, the ancestors of Plato. Socrates' father was a poor man, but Plato's father was a respected citizen of Aristan. Mahatma Solan is called Mahatma Gandhi of ancient Athens.
Socrates used to wear old and simple clothes, sometimes even his clothes were torn. But Plato used to wear beautiful clothes. However, this social disparity and family separation had no plate effect on the young man's mind.
Plato (Plato) had accepted the discipleship of Mahatma Socrates in the Pakka of his youth. On meeting Socrates, he was deeply impressed by him and became his devotee. There have been great changes in his life. Plato was in contact with Socrates for almost ten years. Plato was deeply distressed by the death sentence of Socrates, and he left Athens.
State of mental agony and knowledge kept traveling for years in different countries. He enriched his knowledge by visiting famous cultural centers. They probably visited the countries of Megara, Egypt, Sisley, Italy, Syria etc. Plato came to India and here he also studied Hindu philosophy and other religions.
Plato first went to Megara, the home of the famous epistle Euclid. After that, he visited the mixed country, where he saw speculations of human culture and human progress. There he met Chit and in order to meet him, he came to know that the people of Egypt are inferior to the civilization and culture of Athens. Deli-polis, which was the religious center of contemporary Egypt, was where they used to spend long days. He also studied the education system of Egypt.
In Sicily, he got information about the governance there. In Italy, he spent some time in the school whose founder was Pythagoras. Here he saw that some people lead an austere life and study with full devotion. Let's get acquainted with different concepts of the country and abroad, analyze them with meditation. Plato was the most informed man of his time. Being endowed with direct knowledge of the great methodology of philosophy, science, history, administration, he was considered to be the most knowledgeable of the subjects of his era.
At the age of forty the theist Plato (philosopher Plato) returned to Athens with a store of knowledge, where the remaining twenty years of his life would result in the reformation of education and its experience. Due to solid experience and serious knowledge, his belief was firm that the development of any society and country is possible when the youth there is developed and this work is possible only through independent education system and organized curriculum. In fact, the basis of Plato's philosophy is education. To give practical shape to his ideology, Plato established an education committee around 386 BC in the old gymnasium of Athens, which became famous as the Academy.
He continued to work in this academy for the rest of his life, where women and men were given knowledge equally.
What is education???
According to plates, education is the method by which moral values are generated in a person. The entire curriculum of the plates has been divided into three parts.- Physical development, education, and music education. Which is described below.
Plato (Plato) is considered to be a great, original and comprehensive thinker among the thinkers of all ages. He has expressed his thoughts related to education in his book 'The Republic' and 'The Laws' which is in the form of conversation. 'The Republic' is the best book of education - such is the opinion of Rousseau, the first class educationist in the world.
Rousseau has written - "the finest treatise on education that was ever written." Topics like education, religion, philosophy, society, politics have been discussed in The Republic. Similarly, 'The Laws' is a comprehensive and practical work written by Plato in his mature age, in which ideas related to education and ethics are expressed.
Logic is all important in Plato's education system. Plato's 'Dialectic' includes subjects like philosophy, ethics, psychology, administration, law education etc. He told agriculture and trade necessary for efficiency in daily life.
At that time there was agriculture and trade-dominated employment in Athens. In order to keep the body beautiful, well-formed, strong and healthy, the education of exercise was prescribed. In order to generate aesthetic sense in man and develop morality in him, Plato determined the subjects of music, dance, poetry and literature etc.
To the Greeks, music had the same significance as the Old Testament for the Jews and the Bible for the Christians.
Importance of Mathematics in the view of Plato
According to Plato, mathematics performs three functions in the intellectual field.
1. It presents the real truth before man. This truth is such that it is same for all.
2. It lifts the soul up instead of pulling it down. It diverts the mind from the realm of senses and materiality towards the eternal.
3. Mathematics forces the soul to reason about subtle numbers.

Type of Education :-
Plato thought that without physical progress, the mental progress of a person also cannot be done well. That's why he told the importance of exercise. Music keeps the mind away from worries. This develops our brain. The ultimate aim of Plato's education was to make a person fully capable.
Plato has described two types of education.
1. Education to gain proficiency in daily tasks.
2. Education to make you capable of serving the state.
Philosopher Plato (Philosopher Plato) looks at the first type of education in this. They consider it as low quality education. His idea is different from the idea of modern America. He is of the opinion that the education which gives skill in daily work keeps a person away from knowledge and wisdom. Being away from knowledge and discretion, a person does not get the feeling of idealism and Plato wants to make a person an ideal citizen. The education which cannot make a person an ideal citizen, that education is of low quality.
Plato considers the second type of education as the highest quality of education. This type of education creates wisdom and knowledge in a person. This education creates ideal citizens.
